Our View on Learning
"The principal goal of education in the schools should be creating men and women who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done."
-Jean Piaget

Our Philosophy
With many years of experience we have incorporated and expanded our philosophy to fit the needs of your children. Here at Adventureland Daycare and Preschool our number one goal is to provide over the top care and focus on each of the children’s specific needs. We believe that development is discontinuous meaning that children develop in distinct stages or milestones like the lifecycle of a butterfly. Certain emotions, abilities, and behaviors emerge in each stage. Each child is of course different and will meet each milestone or move on at a different time. Each child is unique.
In order to encourage and nourish each child’s mind here at Adventureland Daycare and Preschool, we incorporate emergent curriculum into our everyday routine. With themes taken from Jean Piaget’s theory of child development and curriculum concepts. Our preschool program is carefully planned to meet the interests and developmental needs of the children. We plan our curriculum to enhance their social, cognitive, emotional, cultural, and physical needs.
“Young children learn the most important things, not by being told, but by constructing knowledge for themselves in interaction with the physical world and with other children- and the way they do this is by playing.”
~Jean Piaget
Our goal is to expand children’s thinking by allowing them to learn about what interests them through our emergent curriculum. Therefore almost everything is potential curriculum. The lesson plans at Adventureland Daycare and Preschool are the ideas of the children that form the foundation for their learning. Yes we follow their interests but us teachers provide structure to the concepts and plan lessons for an educational learning experience. We expand their learning experience through story telling, outdoor activities, arts/crafts, props, etc. Even though monthly or weekly themes are different it is important that we connect past learning with future learning. Also it is critical to follow the Kindergarten readiness guidelines to prepare them for their next journey.
